Pediatric Services
Newborn Exams
In the first few months of life, newborns are seen frequently to assess their needs and establish a relationship with new families. We’ll review screenings and bloodwork, assess your child’s growth and development, observe their behavior and perform a physical exam.
Lactation Consultations
Our consultations assess mothers’ milk relative to lactation stage (colostrum, transitional and mature) and the volume. We also provide positioning guidance, daily milk volume supplementing and diaper movement and weight checks. We may also assess your infant’s reflexes and ability to suckle.
Preventative Guidance
We provide you with guidance in a number of areas (including diet, nutrition and exercise) to promote healthy routines and safe practices, and help prevent health issues before they begin.
Vaccinations and Immunizations
Vaccines are one of the most effective ways to protect your child against serious infectious diseases (which infants and young children are particularly vulnerable to). Hartford HealthCare Medical Group follows the immunization schedule outlined by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Center for Disease Control. We will review and discuss vaccination schedules and recommendations, including their benefits and any associated risks. We will address your concerns and questions, and ask for informed consent for each administered vaccine.
Developmental Assessments
We’ll provide your child and adolescent with a developmental assessment in a variety of functions, including cognition, communication, behavior, social interaction, motor and sensory abilities, and adaptive skills.
Annual Physicals
We’ll conduct a comprehensive examination to evaluate your child’s overall health and development, and preform appropriate screenings to identify any underlying health issues. Together, we’ll develop an individualized care plan that meets the needs of the patient and the parent.
Family Medicine
In addition to our pediatric specialists, Hartford HealthCare Medical Group has more than 90 Family Medicine providers across Connecticut that care for patients of all ages, including children under the age of 18. They’ll bring the highest level of personalized care to your entire family.
