Bio

Peter D Byeff, MD, graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania where he received a BA degree and was recognized with honors in his major field of study. He graduated from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and served his internship and residency in internal medicine at Georgetown University Hospital. He was a visiting fellow in Hematology-Oncology at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center and was awarded the Royal Gibson Award as the outstanding first year fellow. He also received the prestigious Damon Runyon-Walter Winchell fellowship for his research efforts. He is triple Board Certified in Hematology, Oncology, and Internal Medicine.

Since finishing his training at Columbia, Dr. Byeff has been in practice in central Connecticut. He was the first director of the George Bray Cancer Center at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, and was re-appointed to this position in October of 2008. He has been the principal investigator for the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group and the National Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project at The Hospital of Central Connecticut. He is an investigator for the Gynecologic Oncology Group. He served on the American Society of Clinical Oncology Workforce Task-force which identified the impending crisis in oncology workforce numbers. He has written a number of scientific papers and is the founding member of the Cancer Center of Central Connecticut. Currently, he is a representative from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine to the Alumni Council of Johns Hopkins University and serves on its Executive Committee.
