Bio

Patrick Tomak, MD, is a neurosurgeon and spine specialist with Hartford HealthCare’s Ayer Neuroscience Institute.

A seasoned neurosurgeon who had been teaching at Yale, Dr. Tomak has extensive experience with minimally-invasive and robotic surgery techniques for various neurological conditions. His areas of clinical interest include: occipital-cervical fusion; congenital abnormalities of the spine; Chiari malformations; cervical, thoracic and lumbar degenerative disorders; surgical treatment of spinal tumors, rheumatological disorders and Ankylosing Spondylitis; cervical and lumbar artificial disc surgery; thoracic disc disease; vascular malformations; lateral approaches to the spine; anterior lumbar spine surgery; minimally-invasive discectomies, lumbar fusions and invasive stabilization and decompression; treatment of lumbar stenosis, spondylolisthesis and scoliosis; treatment of metastatic spinal tumors; robotic spinal surgery; and transnasal endoscopic surgery for pituitary tumors and skull-based tumors.

Board-certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery, Dr. Tomak earned his medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine and completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in neurological surgery at Emory University School of Medicine. He is a member of the Congress of Neurologic Surgeons, New England Neurosurgical Society, New Haven Medical Society, American Association of Neurologic Surgeons and North American Skull Based Society.
